II Kings 9:20

II Kings 9:20 And the watchman told, saying, He came even unto them, and cometh not again: and the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi; for he driveth furiously. God had told Elisha to anoint Jehu as the next king of Israel. Jehu was not in line to be king, but God was judging the house of Ahab for his wickedness. Ahab had died and left his son, Joram, to be king in his stead, but Joram wasn’t God’s choice. Jehu was. Joram had been defeated in battle with the Syrians and had limped back into Samaria to pout and recover from his wounds. But Jehu was coming for him! When Joram saw a chariot approaching the city, he knew he was in trouble. Jehu was just flying! Joram jumped into his chariot to escape. But God was with Jehu and it was time for Ahab's wicked dynasty to end. As Joram fled, Jehu notched an arrow and pulled back on the bow as far as he could and let the arrow fly. God guided the arrow’s flight and Joram was struckin the back right between his shoulder blades. He died instantly. And then Jehu told Bidkar, his captain, to drag Joram’s body into the field of Naboth that Ahab had stolen. God’s justice against the house of Ahab was complete.

II Kings 8:16,18,19

II Kings 8:16,18,19 And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign. And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife: and he did evil in the sight of the LORD. Yet the LORD would not destroy Judah for David his servant's sake, as he promised him to give him alway a light, and to his children. Jehoram the king of Judah married Ahab and Jezebel’s wicked daughter. Jehoram deserved to be judged for his evil, but God was gracious to him for the sake of King David, Jehoram’s great-great-grandfather. God punishes sin, but God blesses those who honor Him for many generations. I am blessed because my father loved God. You are blessed because your father loves God. But How about your children that are not even born as yet? Will they be blessed because of your love for God? Only you can decide that!

II Kings 8:7,8

II Kings 8:7,8 And Elisha came to Damascus; and Benhadad the king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying, The man of God is come hither. And the king said unto Hazael, Take a present in thine hand, and go, meet the man of God, and enquire of the LORD by him, saying, Shall I recover of this disease? Benhadad, the king of Syria asked Elisha to come up to his capital and tell him if he would recover from his disease or not. Benhadad sent Hazael, his captain out to meet Elisha with all sorts of gifts. Forty camels were loaded down with stuff! Elisha wanted to tell Benhadad that he would get better, but he just couldn’t. That’s because God had revealed to Elisha that Benhadad would not get better. He would die. Captain Hazael would be the next king of Syria and that he would do terrible things to Israel. Elisha told everything to Hazael. And the very next day, Hazael murdered Benhadad and took over the kingdom. Remember, God knows where you are and God knows what the future holds. Follow God and God will lead you.
