Changing Times

My grandson came over last Friday and Saturday.  As usual, he went exploring in the neighborhood on my bicycle.  Bennett came back in 30 minutes with an old record player turntable under his arm that he had found put out on the side of the road.  He brought it inside and began to investigate.  I explained how the thing worked, and Bennett was fascinated.  For him, it was a vintage antique, but for me it was an old thing that I knew about.  I let Bennett open the back (cautioning him about electricity) and he discovered how it worked.  I could see myself fifty years ago as I worked on my hi-fi system (If you don’t know what that is, message me and I can give you a private history lesson).  But as I checked on Bennett’s progress, I saw that he had Googled the brand and model numbers, and was watching a youtube clip on how to repair the turntable.  Solomon could have had my investigations and Bennett’s investigations in mind when he penned Ecclesiastes 9:11, “I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.”  How to gain information changes with each generation, but a curious mind never changes.  Hey, like Solomon advised, seek the Lord and seek His wisdom, because very soon, you will meet your Maker.
