Yesterday afternoon, my daughter, son-in-law, and kids
stopped by on their way to the coast for a vacation. They dropped off Rosie, their little Shih
Tzus to stay with us. Rosie is
well-behaved and no trouble at all. But
after Becky left, Rosie laid down at the top of the stairs watching the front
door. We distracted her with her ball, and
she fetched for a while. But she kept watching
the door. After we wore her out, she
jumped up on the couch, crawled up onto the back of the couch and stretched out
in front of the big living room window.
She was still watching for her master to return. Hey, isn’t that what we Christians are
supposed to be doing? Aren’t we supposed
to be watching for the return of Jesus? When
Jesus left this world 2,000 years ago, He promised that He would return. And He
will! Read I Thessalonians 4:13-18 for
the details. And, although these verses teach
the doctrine of the second coming of Christ, our hearts should swell with the
longing of the second coming of Christ.
Just like Rosie is longing for her master to return, we Christians
should be longing for our Master to return.
Are you looking for the second coming of Jesus Christ? It could be that you aren’t looking for the
second coming of Christ because Jesus isn’t your Master. Good question … and something to think about.
