One of the hardest things about the Covid Stay-at-home is
the boredom. Without church on
Wednesdays and Sundays, I don’t know what day of the week it is. Every day is the same. I used to soooo look forward to the weekend
when things slowed down. Now, every day
is slow. Time was when I began to
anticipate the weekend about Wednesday.
You know - Hump Day - with Caleb the camel. The worst of the week is over, and the
weekend is coming. Thursday is better
and Friday is great! The only thing bad
about the weekend is the knowledge that Monday is coming. As much as I looked forward to the weekend, I
dreaded Mondays. Have you noticed that
there are Mondays in every week? Actually,
there’s a whole string of Mondays ahead!
But there will be a day when Mondays will end. God has promised His children an eternal
rest. The writer of the book of Hebrews
said in Hebrews 4:9, “There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.” He was talking about the eternal rest that we
will enjoy someday when we are safe in the arms of our Savior, Jesus
Christ. So as much as you might dread
Mondays, there is an eternal “weekend” coming.
Have you trusted in Jesus as your Lord and Savior? If you have, you have that eternal rest to
look forward to! Just imagine, an
eternal weekend with no Monday in sight!
This is a blog that I have created for my 5 grandchildren. I have a daily Scripture verse or two along with comments and questions. Hope this encourages young people to read in their Bible every day and to meditate on God's Word.

First or Only?
Suppose you were ready to get married and you sat down with
your fiancé to have a heart to heart talk.
You said to her, “Now when we get married, I want you to know that you
are my number one girl. I may still go
out with other girls, and I may like other girls, but you are still my number
one girl.” How would that go over? Not very well, right? So how do we get away with that sort of logic
with God? We read our Bibles - God’s
very Words - IF we have the time to. We
pray a short mechanical prayer before we eat just because we should. We go back to church Sunday evening and Wednesday
evening IF we can. We are in church
Sunday UNLESS we have to work. Is God
our WHOLE life, or is He just a good idea to add to our busy lives? Jesus said in Luke 14:26&27, “If any man
come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and
brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my
disciple.” Hey, does your bride want to
share you with other women? No. Does God want to share your devotion with
other things? No. Think about it.

Us or God?
This Covid stuff is killing me. It’s bad enough not to see my children, but
not to see my grandchildren?! That’s too
much to bear! I go by and leave plastic
bags on the doorknob with goodies in them.
Kinder Joy eggs, Floam, Hot Wheels, well you get the picture. So, they are so excited to see the bag
hanging on the door that they grab the bag and disappear. But wait; what about me? I understand that they’re just kids. I get that.
But what about the one who brings the stuff? Hey, wait a minute. That’s exactly how we treat the dear Lord
above. We want Him to give us stuff when
we should just want Him. Let’s not be
too hard on the kids. After all, they
learn from us adults how to pray to God.
What about adoration instead of asking.
How about what God wants instead of what we want. What about us pleasing God instead of God
pleasing us. When John saw God’s glory,
he fell on his face and said in Revelation 4:11, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to
receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for
thy pleasure they are and were created.”
We are God’s toys; we are God’s playthings. Praise the good Lord above for who He is, not
for the stuff he gives us. Novel
thoughts.
