I was on the interstate the other day when a little Civic flew past cutting in front of me with only a few feet to spare. His tuned exhaust sounded like a bumblebee as he shot ahead. And in a moment, a little Fiat came from the other side cutting me off as he chased the Civic. To them, driving at high speeds was a game, but to me it was a dangerous game. I have seen too many accidents and seen too many years to drive the way those two were driving. I suppose that I’m just an old man, but I want to grow older too. Oh, I drove like those two kids back in my day, but back then I was driving a 36 horsepower five-speed Volkswagen with a top speed of 55 miles per hour. I didn’t cut off anyone; I just crept past them when we went downhill. As I think of life in the fast lane and life in the slow (older) lane, I think of God’s goodness to me. Nahum 1:7: "The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him." God is good. Yes, He is.
