Read Proverbs 29:26

Proverbs 29:26  Many seek the ruler's favour; but every man's judgment cometh from the LORD. Why do you think that people try to butter up a ruler? Why are they overly nice to a judge? People are nice to important people because they hope to use them later. If you get to know a judge, when you get a traffic ticket, the judge may let his friend off - that would be you! If you are friends with a city commissioner, it may come in handy when you go before the commission to get your building project approved. But our verse says that God is the one who we should be getting in good with. We should do those things that God likes and not do those things that God does not like. Don't fear man - fear God. And don't try to gain favor with man - obey and gain favor with God. After all, Who is able to save your eternal soul and take you to heaven? Hummm?
