Mark 8:27-29

Mark 8:27-29 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am? And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets. And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ. The disciples had been following Jesus around for several months, and Jesus thought it was time to have a serious discussion with them. So Jesus asked them two important questions. He asked them, “Whom do men say that I am?” And then He asked, “Who do you think that I am?” Jesus wanted to find out what the disciples were hearing and what the disciples were thinking. Which do you think is more important? What others think about Jesus or what you think about Jesus? Other people thought that Jesus was John the Baptist or Elijah resurrected. But Peter got it right! Peter spoke up and said that he knew that Jesus was the Messiah, the Son of God come into the world. Good answer, Peter! So what do you think? Who is Jesus? A good man? A great man? Or is Jesus the Son of God come in the flesh? Your answer will determine how you live. And your answer will determine if you will make it to heaven or not. Jesus is the Messiah and Jesus is the only way to heaven. And you can count on that!
