No one likes to be restricted. We say, “It cramps my style.” But boundaries are important. What would happen if no one observed the stop
sign? What if we ignore the speed limit
signs? Oh sure, we get in a hurry and
try to get by with a “rolling stop”. We
try to fudge on the speed limit to make up for a late start. But rules are necessary for the common good. If we ignore the rules of the road, it is to
our peril … and that of others. It’s
easier to run outside of the football boundaries, but then what happens to the
game? What if the wide receiver decides
to run behind his bench to get to the goal line? What if the wide receiver decides that driving
a golf cart would be better protection against the opposite team? What if the coach just decided to punch out
the opposing players running by? How did
that work out for Woody Hayes in the ’78 Gater Bowl? Hey, there’s only one way to get to heaven,
and that’s by faith in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son. No cheating or sneaking in is possible. No way to bribe the angel at the pearly
gates. Peter said in Acts 4:12, “Neither
is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven
given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
To get into heaven, you must play by God’s rules. It’s God’s heaven and He sets the rules. Trust Jesus and enjoy His eternal bliss.
