Brother Jamie told a great story Sunday at church. Years ago, his family went to Maryland for a
visit. They got out the Rand McNally
Road Atlas (years ago) and plotted the trip from Lafayette GA to Baltimore,
MD. After an hour of riding in the car,
five-year-old Daniel asked, “Are we there yet?”
Well, the answer was no because they weren’t to Knoxville yet … not even
out of Tennessee on a twelve-hour trip!
If you have children, you know the feeling. After another half hour, little Daniel asked
again, “Are we there yet?” And the
answer was, “No, we’re almost to Bristol.”
As the day wore on and Daniel became more and more anxious, his questions
came closer together. Finally, halfway
up into Virginia, Daniel exclaimed, “We’re never going to get to
Maryland!” Pastor Jamie went on to say
that we are exactly like Daniel as the Lord leads us through life. You see, as Brother Jamie was driving, he
knew the road, but Daniel only had a relationship. Brother Jamie knew where they were going, but
Daniel only knew who he was riding with.
Hey, we are on our journey to heaven, but only the dear Lord knows the
way. We know where we are going, but
only the Lord knows the road to get us there.
Solomon said in Proverbs 16:3’ “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy
thoughts shall be established.” We know
the ultimate destination, but we must trust God to get us there. And He will!
God will take us to heaven, safe and sound. Hey, you can trust the dear Lord today! Yes, you can!
