Be a Quitter

This morning at cardiac rehab, I got a cup of coffee and sat down, stalling to start my workout.  I noticed a brochure on the table which read, “Be a Quitter”.  I was curious because I have always thought that being a quitter wasn’t a good thing.  But upon closer inspection, this brochure was touting quitting smoking, which was a good thing.  And I began to think: there are many things that we as Christians should quit.  Quit whining.  Quit eating too much.  Quit gossiping.  Quit complaining.  Hey, can you think of a list for you to quit?  If you think of something, just quit doing it!  Paul speaks about putting off the old man and putting on the new man in Ephesians.  Ephesians 4:2224, “That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”  Hey, be a quitter … of bad things, but don’t be a quitter of good things.  And how?  In the power of the Holy Spirit!  Isaiah 40:29-31.
