I Corinthians 2:14
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are
foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually
discerned. When we talk about spiritual things, most of our friends really
don’t understand. That is because they are not Christians. I had a friend years
ago who worked with me. He was not a Christian, but we were pretty good friends
anyway. Once he asked me, “Why do you give all of that money to church? It just
doesn’t make any sense.” I didn’t answer him; I just asked him a question, “Why
do you pay all of that money to buy cigarettes and then you light them with a
match and just burn them up? It just doesn’t make any sense.” Then he
understood. What made sense to him didn’t make sense to me and what didn’t make
sense to him made perfect sense to me. He didn’t understand because he wasn’t a
Christian. he would have to become a Christian in order to understand. But he never
did. At least I don’t know that he did. I still need to pray for Randy.
This is a blog that I have created for my 5 grandchildren. I have a daily Scripture verse or two along with comments and questions. Hope this encourages young people to read in their Bible every day and to meditate on God's Word.

I Corinthians 2:10
I Corinthians 2:10
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all
things, yea, the deep things of God. Isn’t it great to have a friend who
knows everything? If you have a problem or need to know something, they are
there for you. They have plenty of money to loan and are connected to all of
the important people. Hey! That’s just who our verse is talking about! God
knows everything and His Holy Spirit sees everything from the beginning to the
end! He knows what is in store for us in the future, and He will help us to get
there safe and sound. And when problems come our way, the Holy Spirit is right
there to guide and to protect. He absolutely knows the best way for us! What a
Friend! What a Savior! What a wonderful heavenly Father!

I Corinthians 2:9
I Corinthians
2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not
seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things
which God hath prepared for them that love him. Heaven is going to be
awesome! I mean, just think of the most wonderful ideas that you have about
heaven. Think of just how crazy beautiful and wonderful that heaven will be!
Well, our verse says that heaven will be better than that! Can you believe it?!
God loves us so much that He is preparing a fabulously wonderful place for us!
But the best part is that Jesus, our Savior, will be there! He will personally welcome
us home to live with Him forever as part of His family! How wonderful it will
be!

I Corinthiand 2:1-5
I Corinthians 2:1-5
And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of
wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know
any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. And I was with you
in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching
was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit
and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the
power of God. Years ago, my wife and I went to one of those evening parties
where a salesman cooked a dinner and then sold the cookware that he had used.
We loved the food and it was prepared nutritiously. We bought the set and were
pleased. But the next day, I began to think. I wasn’t making much money, Kathy
was a stay-at-home mom, and had just bought a set of pots and pans for $1,500.
The cookware cost so much that we wouldn’t have enough money to buy the food to
go in them! So I cancelled the order and got out of the purchase. Looking back
on the whole event, I realized that I had been taken advantage of by a great
salesman. He had talked me into buying something that I really didn’t want. In
our verses for today, Paul said that he was not going to be like that salesman.
Paul knew that he was clever enough to talk the people of Corinth into becoming
Christians. But the next day or week, they would wake up and realize that they
had just been talked into something. But being a Christian is a commitment. You
must think it over and you must realize what you are getting into. Your
decision to become a Christian must be between you and the Holy Spirit. He must
convict you of your sin and you must be sincere in repenting of your sins.
Then, and only then, will you be born again into God’s forever family. It is
not something that you should be talked into – it is something that you must do
knowing exactly what you are doing. We are saved not by wisdom of words; we are
saved by the power of God! Are you saved? I hope so.

I Corinthians 1:31
I Corinthians 1:31
That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
When you do something great, you like to brag about it, don’t you? Have you
ever scored a goal in soccer? Have you ever done a handstand or a cartwheel?
Have you ever painted a beautiful picture? Have you ever saved your money and
bought someone the perfect birthday present? But what if your mother gave you
the money to buy that present? Could you brag about buying it is she gave you
the money? Of course not. So why do we brag when we score a goal? Didn’t God
give us the muscles and coordination to do the work? Doesn’t God keep our heart
pumping? Doesn’t God give us the balance to do the cartwheel? Didn’t God give
us good vision to see beauty and the coordination in our hands to paint
beautiful pictures? Everything that we are able to do is a gift from God, our
Creator. We may do things, but God lets us do them. God gives us everything. So
why not thank God and praise Him for whet we have? Now that’s a good idea.
