Saturday, my nine-year-old grandson was anxious to get to
our house. But I told him, “I’ve got to
drop off this envelope at the Post Office.”
So, Bennett asked, “Who’s it to?”
I answered, “It’s to Mr. X. He’s
a lawyer.” Bennett looked confused. “A liar?” he said. “No,” I replied, “A lawyer.” Bennett was still puzzled, “Did you say that
Mr. X was a liar?” I thought for a
moment. You may be onto something there,
Bennet. You may be.
This is a blog that I have created for my 5 grandchildren. I have a daily Scripture verse or two along with comments and questions. Hope this encourages young people to read in their Bible every day and to meditate on God's Word.

A Simple Action Is really Complicated
When I raise my hand, … well, I raise my hand. But what really goes on? Bear with me - I have a point to make. There are muscles and tendons connecting to
the phalanges of the fingers and the wrist bones connecting to the ulna and
radius bones of the forearm. Then those
are connected by other muscles and tendons to the elbow and the humerus bone in
the upper arm. These must be connected
to the shoulder muscles and rotator cuff including the scapula and clavicle bones. All of these muscles are controlled by nerves
traveling to and from the spinal cord to the brain.
And these muscles must be nourished by blood through arteries and
veins. Oxygen and nutrition flows in
while carbon dioxide and wastes flow out.
And this is just to raise my hand one time! Hey, the Church is called “the body of Christ”. We all have different abilities and talents,
but we are all necessary. We should love
one another and work together to get things done. I Corinthians 12:12, 26, 27 says, “For as the
body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being
many, are one body: so also is Christ. And whether one member suffer, all the
members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with
it. Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.”

Old Boxes, Old Contents
I have been cleaning out my two-car-garage, which has never
held a car. I think that when I turn off
the lights at night, junk multiplies to fill all available space. So, I have about twenty of these Avon boxes
with my old taxes in them. I have heard
that I only need to keep three years back, so Monday, I am shredding the rest. I have three industrial strength garbage bags
and I have been dumping boxes and boxes of years and years of old bills,
cancelled checks, and receipts. Half-way
through the second box I realized how good God has been to me over the
years. Thousands of dollars of medical
bills, piles of electric bills and water bills and car payments and … well you
get the picture. As I threw in hundreds
of old checks, I saw many cancelled checks to the church and to mission projects. I have often thought that if I take care of
God’s business, God will take care of my business. And He has.
God has been so good to me! “It
is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail
not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22,23
