I Corinthians 15:55-57

I Corinthians 15:55-57 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Have you ever got a shot at the doctor’s office? It really isn’t that bad, but you worry and worry about it before you get it. On the way, you think about how much it’s going to hurt. But when you get the shot, it’s all over so quickly. Hey, it wasn’t really that bad! And that’s the way it is with death. We worry about death, but it isn’t that bad, because the dear Lord is with you all of the time. After all, death is the door that opens up into eternal life. Actually, it is the only door to eternal life. Oh, to be sure, there is a sting in death, just like the sting of the shot at the doctor’s office. The sting of the shot is quickly over. And the sting of death will quickly be over and we will be enjoying the wonder of God’s beautiful heaven with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Remember, Jesus has already been through death and He will be with you all of the way. Jesus will never let you down.

I Corinthians 15:51-53

I Corinthians 15:51-53 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. What a great day it will be when Jesus comes back to catch us away into heaven. It will be just like a firemen rescuing someone from a burning building. Jesus will change those who are alive and Jesus will change and resurrect those who are buried. Then all of us will go up to meet Jesus in the air and go with Him to heaven for ever and forever. And all of these events will happen in a split-second! There will be no time to prepare. The time to prepare is now. Get ready now for the coming of Jesus Christ! I am ready; are you?

I Corinthians 15:39-43

I Corinthians 15:39-43 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: Things are different. Birds are different than people. Birds have wings and can fly, but people cannot. But people can think and dream and figure things out. The earth is one thing, but the sun is different. I am glad that we live on the earth. If we were on the sun, we would burn up! But if we didn’t have the sun to warm the earth, we would freeze on earth. So both the earth and the sun are necessary. We humans are different from Angels. We have three parts: body, soul and spirit. God breathed into Adam and he became a living soul. But Adam sinned, and passed his sin nature on to his children, and on to us. We need to be born again. And when we are born again into God’s forever family, we are given the spirit of God. We will live forever with God, our heavenly Father. So when we die, our spirit goes to heaven to be with God and our loved ones cry and bury our physical body. Our body is put into the ground. But someday, it will be resurrected and reunited with our spirit. That is called the Rapture of the Saints. Jesus will come back in the clouds, the archangel will sound his trumpet, and three wonderful things will happen. Those who are saved will be instantly changed into their glorified eternal bodies. Those who are dead will be changed, they will come up from where they are buried, and they will be reunited with their spirits. Then all who are saved, will go up to heaven to be with God in their new, resurrected bodies to be with the Father and the Son of God forever and forever. What a day that will be!

I Corinthians 15:12-14

I Corinthians 15:12-14 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. It wasn’t enough for Jesus to die for our sins; Jesus needed to rise again to prove that one day, we will rise again. Jesus didn’t stay dead; He came back alive! And when we, as Christians, die, we will come back alive again too! Our bodies are put into the ground or cremated, but our souls go immediately to heaven. And when Jesus comes back to earth someday, our souls and resurrected bodies will be reunited and we will be alive forevermore! The resurrection of Jesus is very important. Jesus promised to raise us up when He comes back to earth someday. But if Jesus didn’t come up out of the grave, then we have no hope of coming up out of the grave either. All of our hope is in Jesus. If He came up, we will come up. If He is still dead, we will stay dead. But the good part is that He did come back alive! And someday, we will come back alive too! Yeah for Jesus! He is alive! And, Yeah! for us coming back alive someday!

I Corinthians 15:1,3,4

I Corinthians 15:1,3,4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; ... how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. The Apostle Paul gives us the Gospel of Jesus Christ in just a few words. And the Gospel is this: the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is as simple as that. Jesus paid for our salvation with His own blood on the cross of Calvary. Jesus’ death was foretold in the Old Testament in prophecy. Isaiah 53:5 says that “he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities.” That’s why the phrase “according to the Scriptures” occurs twice in our verses. The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus was told about hundreds of years before it happened! And then it happened just as the Scriptures said it would. You can trust the Bible and you can trust Jesus as your Savior!

I Corinthians 14:22,33,40; 13:10

I Corinthians 14:22,33,40; 13:10 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. Let all things be done decently and in order. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. There are some people in churches today who speak in unknown tongues. They believe that tongues indicate that they are “filled with the Holy Spirit”. Our verses tell us that speaking in tongues were just for the Jewish believers and were to demonstrate that God had saved these new believers. Acts 2 tells us that at the Day of Pentecost there were sixteen different language groups present. And when the apostles preached to them, everyone was amazed to hear the apostles speaking in their own language! What a miracle from God! But the miracle wasn’t in the speaking of the apostles; the real miracle was in the hearing of these sixteen language groups, because they all heard heard the apostles in their own language at the same time! Peter preached in one language, but sixteen groups of people heard him in their own language! But when the 27 New Testament books were completed, the everyone had the written Word of God. They didn’t need tongues any more to prove that they had been converted. And as our verses say, the imperfect (tongues) was done away with because the perfect (God’s Word) was come. We don’t need tongues any longer; we have the Bible!
