Joshua 1:16,17 And
they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and
whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go. According as we hearkened unto Moses
in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only the LORD thy God be with
thee, as he was with Moses. When General Joshua gave his pep talk to his
army, they were ready to follow him into battle. They were ready to do what he
told them to do and go where he sent them to go. And they said, “We will follow
you as long as you are following God.” And that’s how all of us should be. We
should follow the preacher as long as he is following God. We
should follow the Sunday school teacher as long as they are following God.
We should think for ourselves and obey God first. And follow the person that we
are accountable to as long as they are following God. But how do we know that they
are following God? We must read the Bible ourselves. Then we will know. Think
for yourselves and follow authority as they follow God.
This is a blog that I have created for my 5 grandchildren. I have a daily Scripture verse or two along with comments and questions. Hope this encourages young people to read in their Bible every day and to meditate on God's Word.

Joshua 1:9
Joshua 1:9 Have not
I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be
thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Joshua
was getting ready for battle. He was the general and was going to lead the
troops. But was he really the leader? Was he really in charge? Our verse
explains that Joshua was only following orders from the Almighty God. He didn’t
have to make the decisions; he had to obey God and follow God’s decisions. And
God said, “Be strong! Don’t be afraid!” And with God leading, Joshua wouldn’t
be afraid. Good advice for us too. If
God leads us we have nothing to be afraid of! Just obey and follow God!

Joshua 1:8
Joshua 1:8 This
book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate
therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is
written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou
shalt have good success. This is the only place where the word success
appears in the whole Bible! So we should pay close attention to it. So how was
Joshua guaranteed good success? By reading and obeying the Word of God. And
that is how we will have good success: by reading and obeying the Word of God.
Hey! That’s what you are doing right now! Good job!
