Job 1:8-11 And the
LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like
him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and
escheweth evil? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for
nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about
all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and
his substance is increased in the land. But put forth thine hand now, and touch
all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. Satan appeared up in
heaven right among God’s angels and pretended like he should be there. He
didn’t show up just because he liked to look around; he showed up to accuse
Job. But God knew all of that. God knows everything. So God let Satan show up
knowing that he was going to accuse Job. But God knew Job also. And God knew
that Job was a faithful servant. God knew that every time that Satan looked at
Job he was frustrated. Job was a good man and Satan couldn’t get at Job. And
that made God happy. So when God and Satan talked, God brought up Job’s name
and rubbed it in that Job served Him and was a faithful man. Satan was
aggravated and shot back, “Yeah, yeah, yeah. But Job only serves you because
you give him everything.” Satan went on, “If you take away all of his stuff,
you’ll see that Job doesn’t really love you.” So God allowed Satan to take away
all of Job’s stuff. Job’s children were killed in a freak windstorm. Lightening
burned up all of Job’s sheep. The Sabeans swooped down and stole all of Job’s
oxen and killed his farm workers. The Chaldeans attacked his men and stole all
of the camels. Everything was gone! But Job remained true to God. he said, “I
came into this world as a little baby with absolutely nothing, and when I die,
I will be buried with absolutely nothing. Praise the name of the Lord!” What a
testimony. Job loved his children, but he knew that they were in heaven. Job
loved his stuff, but Job loved God more! What do you think that Satan thought?
What do you think that God thought?
