New-fallen Snow

Growing up in Maryland, I was familiar with snow.  When I woke up in the morning, I could always tell when it had snowed.  First of all, it was quiet.  Trees branches didn’t rustle; leaves didn’t brush against each other.  The blanket of snow muffled noises.  The only thing that I heard was the occasional scraping of the snow plow as it hurried up the road.  Another way that I knew that it had snowed was that it seemed much lighter outside.  Any light that was available was reflected off the snow and magnified.  Even a pale moon seemed much brighter with snow covering the ground.  The fresh blanket of snow covered the twigs and leaves.  The clutter and roughness of the countryside was smoothed leaving everything soft with a white blanket.  The snow smoothed over a garden hose, a rake, or some toy left in the yard leaving everything pure white.  Isaiah 1:18 says it best, “… though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”  Jesus Christ can cover your dark sins and make them as white as snow.  Pray to the Lord and let Him wash away your sins and leave your life as clean as a new blanket of snow.
