Do you remember playing “last hits” with your brother? I do.
If not, here’s how it goes: you have to be the last one to get a hit to
the other’s arm. If he hits you, you
have to hit him, and he has to hit you, and you have to hit him, and … well,
you get the picture. You hit him, and
then run so that you can be the last one to hit the other. But he catches you and hits you, and then he
runs, and you have to catch him so that you aren’t the last one. At some point, someone had to give in. Someone has to stop. Someone has to be the bigger person and
forgive the other. Paul said it in Ephesians
4:32, “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another,
even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.” Jesus took every sin that we ever committed
and took them all upon Himself on the cross of Calvary. Every one of them, past, present, and
future. All of them. So, we should be kind to each other just as Jesus
Christ was. And to the extent that Jesus
forgave us, we should forgive each other.
And that was extreme! Jesus gave
His life for us. The least we can do is
to forgive each other. Hey, go the extra
mile today. Forgive others to the extent
that Christ has forgiven you.
