False Economy

Three years ago, my cordless drill died.  I had been pleased with the DeWalt brand, but the batteries were pricy.  So, I went to Lowe’s and found the cheapest battery, and then I bought the drill that went with that battery.  Since then, I have used up five rechargeable batteries and still have the same drill.  Good choice.  When you buy something, the initial price is not necessarily what the item actually costs … or will end up costing.  When you buy a car, fuel economy is important because you will be buying fuel for many years adding up to many times the cost of the car.  The same is true of inkjet printers.  A cheap printer may end up costing much more because of the many expensive ink cartridges that you buy.  Two sets of cheap tires will not last as long as one set of Michelin tires and actually cost more than the expensive tires.  Hey, cheap is not always the cheapest.  Look ahead a few years and buy the best that you can afford.  The same is true of your spiritual life.  Sin is fun … for a season, but eventually, it will come back to bite you.  Hey, Jesus will prove to be the best way to go.  You won’t have to pay alimony or child support.  You won’t need to hire a shrink.  You will save money on booze and cigarettes.  You won’t have to hire a lawyer to get your children out of jail.  God’s way will end up saving you money and saving you a lot of grief.  Solomon said in Proverbs 3:13&18, “Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.”  Choose God, and you’ll never be sorry that you did.
