Saturday night, we had a windstorm pass through with damage to our back deck. Well, actually, the deck is still solid, but our umbrella and glass-topped table were blown around. The umbrella was destroyed with several tears and broken ribs, and the glass-topped table is not a glass-topped table any longer. I asked my wife if she heard the storm, and she replied that she didn’t hear the storm because she was listening to the storm on Alexia that helps her get to sleep. So, the fake storm on Alexia masked the real storm going on outside. Wow! That’s a ready-made storyline for me! How often do we listen to the wrong voices in life? Discouraging voices, defeating voices, and demeaning voices are shouted into our heads by Satan and his minions. But if we listen to Satan’s false narratives, we ignore the real things going on all around us. God may bring things into our lives to teach us. Just like a fitness coach with robust exercise programs, the good Lord gives us difficulties that are designed to strengthen us and to build us up. Hey, we need to listen to the Lord and trust him! David said in Psalm 27:14, “Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” Good advice from a man who was used to difficult times. Hey, trust in the Lord! Don’t listen to Satan’s fake Alexia storms. Listen to the Lord’s real-life experiences. They will make you a better person. Yes, they will.
