Read John 17:17  This verse is another verse that Jesus prayed while He was in the Garden of Gethsemane. He prayed for us while He was there.  Jesus prayed that we would be sanctified.  Sanctified is a big word that means to be pure or to be right.  Jesus prayed that we would do right and not do bad and wrong things.  What do we call the wrong things that we do?  Then Jesus prayed that we would be sanctified, or made right by truth.  Then Jesus says that His word is truth.  So this is how we do it: Jesus wants us to be right and He says that we must follow Him to learn how to be right, and we must read His words in the Bible in order to learn how to follow Him!  That is why it is important to know what Jesus says in the Bible.  If we do not read the Bible we cannot know what Jesus likes and dislikes.  If we are to be a follower of Jesus, we need to know what He likes and does not like.  Do you want to be a follower of Jesus?  Will you read His words and obey them?
