Exodus 16:2,3

Exodus 16:2,3 And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness: And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger. How soon we forget! Israel had been in the Wilderness for only a few days before they began to murmur. They were hungry and began to long for the good old days back in Egypt. They remembered the cooking pots beside their homes. But they forgot the slavery and the hard work making those bricks and the killing of the baby boys. That’s the way we are sometimes. When we get to whining, we forget how bad things really were and we only remember the good times. It is always good to remember God’s grace and provision. Forget the past and all of its problems. Look forward to a brighter day tomorrow. God told Moses that He would send bread for them to eat the very next day. And He did! God sent manna from heaven. The manna was there on the ground with the morning dew. But if the Children of Israel didn’t get up early enough to gather the manna, it melted away with the morning dew. If they tried to store it overnight, it developed worms and stank. They could gather just enough for themselves for one day. Except on Friday. God let them gather two days’ worth of manna on Friday for the Sabbath day. No manna came of the Sabbath day, because it was a holy day to the Lord. The manna was a little wafer and tasted sweet like honey. It was kind of like a vanilla wafer cookie! Wouldn’t that be great to eat every day! God took care of His people, and God will take care of you!
