Ephesians 4:4-6
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your
calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is
above all, and through all, and in you all. Have you ever wondered why are
there so many different churches? There is the Baptist church, the Methodist
church, the Presbyterian church, the Catholic church, the Episcopal church the
. . . well, you get the picture. Why can’t we just all get along and be one big
happy family in God? Well, we should. But different churches have different
doctrines. So, what are doctrines, you ask. Doctrines are what we believe. And
there is where we become so different. Some churches believe the same things on
the main doctrines of the church. If we all hold to these main doctrines, we
are mostly the same church, just with different likes and dislikes. But if a
church does not believe the main doctrines of the Bible, they are actually a
false church. We can get along with a church that holds to the main Bible
beliefs, but we cannot get along with a church that does not believe the main
doctrines of the Bible. But for all of the churches that believe those main
doctrines of the Bible, they are our brothers and sisters in the Lord. And just
like our physical brothers and sisters may look a little different that we
look, our church brothers and sisters may believe slightly different than we
do. But here is a good quote that has been attributed to several church
fathers: “In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things
charity.” And that is true. We must agree on the main things, but we should let
our brothers and sister have their own opinions on other matters. But then lastly,
we should always love each other in everything. Good words to follow.
