In 1980, I had a student who paid his way through
school. That wasn’t unusual, except that
Brian was in the 8th grade.
Brian rode to church on the Sunday school bus. He lived in a poor home with a single mother
and he sold newspapers. Every day after
school, he rode the city bus to downtown Chattanooga where he picked up his
papers and delivered them to businessmen in the office buildings. The next morning Brian would pay a few
dollars on his school bill with handfuls of quarters. Do you remember the newsboys on the street
corners selling papers? I do. They were selling newspapers with the news of
the day. Hey, do you share the good news
of the hope of eternal life in Jesus Christ?
At the birth of Jesus, the angels gave the good news of the birth of
Jesus to the shepherds. As recorded in
Luke 2:10&11, the angels said to the shepherds, “… Fear not: for, behold, I
bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you
is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the
Lord.” And after visiting the manger
scene, the shepherds published abroad the good news of the new-born
Savior. Hey, do we publish the news of a
Savior born to us! Is Jesus the Lord of
your heart? Do you publish this Good
News? Think about it.
