When I taught junior high school back in the late 80’s I had
a student who liked to tease me. Ben
came in one winter morning and said, “Mr. Whitely, it’s supposed to snow
tomorrow,” and he paused. Then he went
on, “in Alaska.” For a moment he had
me. But I began to think, somewhere it
is raining right now, and somewhere the sun is shining. Somewhere it is clear and sunny, and
somewhere it is snowing and cold. Hey,
somewhere in the world someone is happy, and another place, someone is
sad. Jesus said about the Father in Matthew
5:45, “… he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth
rain on the just and on the unjust.”
Sometimes we feel that we are the only person going through a
trail. But we should remember, God is
still there. God sends good and God
allows evil. And the good Lord above
uses both for His glory and for our benefit.
So, when you are having a good day, be sure to remember those who are
having a bad day. And when you get the
day off because of snow, remember the rest of us.
