I have a dear friend, Brother Ron, who was horse-playing with his older brother when they were young. Well, actually, Ron’s older brother, Kenneth, was doing most of the horseplaying. Finally, Kenneth folded Ron up in the roll-away-bed. Kenneth laughed at Ron’s muffled yelling, but Ron was suffocating in the mattress. Hey, circumstances are like mattresses. If you are on top of them, you’re comfortable, but if you’re under them, they can be suffocating. The disciples felt the very real danger in their circumstances in a storm on the Sea of Galilee. In a panic, they awakened Jesus. Let’s pick up the story in Mark 4:39-41, “And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” Hey, Jesus is NEVER under the circumstances. So, it’s a good plan to stick with Jesus. It worked for the disciples, and it will work for you. Oh, and by the way, Kenneth eventually let Ron out of the roll-away-bed, but then the fight was on!
