Monopoly

In 1999, my wife and I were invited to my son-in-law’s parent’s home for New Year’s Day.  The Van Der Hengsts were great hosts, and the meal was wonderful.  We had conversation and board games in the afternoon.  The young men got out a game of Monopoly and began counting out the money.  My wife asked if she could join in, and they agreed.  Soon, Kathy had a set of properties and was doing well.  With a house on each property, she collected rent from each player.  One house followed another, and in an hour, Kathy had hotels.  Then she bought more property, more houses, and more hotels.  After an hour and a half, the game was over.  Kathy had cleaned the boys out!  Such is the game of Monopoly.  But after she glowed for a while and the others whined for a while, all the game pieces and money and the board were put back into the box.  Hey, that is exactly how life goes.  Some people do well while others do not.  Some collect money while others lose money.  But in the end, the game is over.  All that we have accumulated - or not accumulated - is put away and we are put in a box … we are buried.  And then we face our Maker.  David said in Psalm 90:10, “The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.”  Hey, have you made your peace with your Maker?  Please stop and ponder your life.  Prepare to meet the Lord and make a change in your life.  You’ll be glad that you did.
