My daughter used to tell her son, “We brush our teeth in the morning to keep our friends. We brush our teeth at night to keep our teeth.” So true. Jascha Heifetz, the Russian-born violinist said, “If I don't practice one day, I know it; two days, the critics know it; three days, the public knows it.” There are many things in life that have external consequences and there are many things in life that also have internal consequences. You may think that you can get away with brushing in the morning and practicing twice a week, but reality will catch up with you sooner or later. Jesus said in Luke 6:45, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.” Let me give you some advice: in life as in school, do your homework. Brush your teeth, practice your violin, and read your Bible. Good things will eventually come out in the open.
