I wrote about a friend of my dad’s a few days ago. I was looking for a picture of Leonard Briney’s house online and found this picture of the house of his brother’s, Crawford Briney. Crawford lived up the road in an adjoining farm. I remember Working for Mr. Briney and often his brother would help him on a project. Crawford’s house is on the registry of historic buildings in Harford County, Maryland and was built in 1880. I was curious and looked up the deed (You can find everything on Google). I was surprised to find that Leonard and his wife Anita owned the deed to Crawford’s house. Evidently, Crawford lived there, but Leonard owned the house, and Crawford paid rent to his brother for the house and farm. But since he lived there, it is known as “The Crawford Briney House”. Curious, I thought. Leonard owned the house, but Crawford gets the credit for owning it. Hey, have you ever helped with a project at work, but your supervisor got the credit for the group’s efforts? Have you worked in a group in school with a member who did little, but got the same grade as you? Have you served behind-the-scenes at church and never been thanked? Well, take heart. God knows and God is keeping the records. Jesus said in Luke 12:2, “For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.” Good or bad, God knows. And someday, everything will be revealed. Someday, the Crawford Briney House will be known as the Leonard Briney House. And some day, the works that you have done, … well, … just do your best.
