My oldest daughter graduated from high school in 1990 and soon went off to college. We had been emotionally preparing for our daughter’s graduation for several years as we watched her grow up. But our second child, our son Phillip was right behind her and seemed to grow up unnoticed. We noticed as Becky matured and left home, but Phillip sneaked up on us. And in just the same way, we prepare months for Christmas, but the New Year sneaks up on us. Christmas decorations have been displayed at Hobby Lobby and Lowe’s since September, and Christmas has been on our minds for quite a while. But all of the sudden, the day after Christmas, New Year’s is just a week away! 2022 will give way to 2023 next Saturday whether we are ready or not. Psalm 90:12 is a great verse for today: “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” All of our days are numbered; we have just so many of them. Hey, let’s make good use of every single day in 2023. Let’s make each day count!
