There’s a commercial on TV about a smart car that is talking to its car owner. The car will not start its engine or unlock the doors until the car owner makes the call to buy a certain brand of extended car warrantee. The smart car is in control and tells the car owner what to do. That’s a cute commercial, but that certainly isn’t how the Holy Spirit operates in our relationship with Him. God doesn’t shake us awake at 5 am, drag us to the dining room table, and plop down the Bible in front of us opened to the passage that we need to be reading. No, God waits on us in our relationship. James 4:8 says, “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you ...” If we want a close walk with God, WE must draw close to God FIRST, and THEN He will draw close to us. God will not force us to love him. That’s just how love works. Hey, stop right now and ask the dear Lord to draw near to you, and He will. Pick up your Bible and read it. Fall on your knees and pray to the dear Lord above. He is your Savior and Friend. Enjoy His presence.
