Miss Nora went to visit her sister and brother-in-law, who are missionaries in Brazil. She left last fall, and came back five months later this spring. Brazil is south of the equator, so when Miss Nora left here in the fall, it was spring in Brazil. She was excited because she missed winter here. And when she came back (in our spring), the Brazilian fall was just starting, so she missed winter there. So she went from spring to summer here last year, then spring to summer in Brazil, and then this year, from spring to summer! Wow! That’s confusing! Hey, Nicodemus was just as confused in John 3 when Jesus told him about the New Birth. I’m sure you have heard of being ‘born again’. In John 3:4 Nicodemus asked Jesus, “… How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?” Silly Nicodemus, of course not. Jesus was talking about a spiritual new birth. Hey, in order to go to heaven, you must be born spiritually into God’s forever family. Jesus went on to say in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Still confused?
