Nostalgia

I went by Walmart Friday morning for a few items.  On the way in, I passed the school supplies kiosk in the middle of the aisle.  My wife becomes nostalgic when she sees the school supplies because our baby boy is forty-three years old, and it’s been a long time since we bought school supplies!  I was going to the back of the store to get laundry soap and passed an endcap that had paper lunch bags.  My dear wife used to pack four lunches for each of our children, and another two for her and me … six lunches each day!  Kathy always tried to be creative, but we lived on Christian school teacher’s salaries.  But God was good, and our dollars always stretched.  Those days are gone, but the dear Lord is still good, and God is still stretching our dollars.  Solomon said in Ecclesiastes 3:1, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”  He went on to say in verse two that there is a “time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.”  My version says, there is a time to pack lunches and there is a time to enjoy grandchildren.  And each season of life has its own joys and its own griefs.  So, whichever season of life that you find yourself in today, enjoy the goodness of God and follow after Him.  If you do, you will be blessed and you will be happy.
