When I taught junior high school back in the late 80’s a student came in one winter morning and said, “Mr. Whitely, it’s supposed to snow tomorrow,” and he paused, and then continued, “in Alaska.” For a moment he had me. But then I began to think: somewhere it is raining right now, but somewhere else, the sun is shining right now. Somewhere it is warm and sunny, but somewhere else it is cold and snowing. Hey, somewhere in the world someone is happy, and in another place, someone is sad. Jesus said about God, the Father in Matthew 5:45, “… he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.” Sometimes we feel that we are the only person going through a certain trail. But we should remember, God is still there. God sends good and God allows evil. And the dear Lord above uses both good and evil for His glory and for our benefit. So, when you are having a good day, be sure to remember those who are having a bad day. And when you get the day off because of snow, remember the rest of us.
