Genesis 8:1-4 And
God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with
him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters
asswaged; The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were
stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained; And the waters returned from
off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the
waters were abated. And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth
day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat. God loved Noah and cared
for him and his family. God would not forget Noah, even though the ark floated
on the flood waters for over a year. It must have seemed to Noah that God had
forgotten him. But God hadn’t; God knew exactly where Noah was and God would
take care of Noah. So the waters began to go down. As the tremendous underwater
volcano activity calmed, the mountains began to push up above the flood waters.
And as they pushed up, the waters ran off of the mountains and down into the
new ocean basins. But even after the ark came to rest on Mt. Ararat, it took
more time for the land to dry off. Noah removed the roof of the ark and sent
out birds to see what was going on. Soon, they were able to leave their
floating home. I imagine it was good to be on dry land once again. Noah and his
family had been through a lot! But God was with them all of the time. And God
will be with you too!
