Hebrews 4:12

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. God’s Word is not only a book; it is a living book that can make a difference in our lives. And not only is it a living book; it is a powerful book. The writer of Hebrews gives a great comparison. The Bible is like a two-edged sword. It is dangerous and powerful both coming and going. But how dangerous is a sword lying on a table? Not at all. That powerful two-edged sword is only powerful when it is picked up by a skillful swordsman and used. And by comparison, what use is a good book on the bookshelf? A book is designed to be read. So, the awesome power of God’s Word can be unleashed only when it is read by a faithful Christian. Hey, isn’t that what you are doing right now?!

Hebrews 3:13

Hebrews 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. Have you seen football players getting each other hyped up before the game? They hit each other (no harm because they have pads and helmets) and get each other fired up so that they are motivated to do their best. Well that is exactly what the word exhort means. We should be encouraging each other to do good. When someone that we know is discouraged, we should give them a good Bible verse and let them know that we are praying for them. If a friend starts to whine we should say, “Hey, get with it! You know God has been good to all of us. Quit your whining!” We should shake them up and encourage them like the football players. Don’t let your friends get discouraged. And keep yourself accountable to them too. Tell them not to let you whine or complain. Make a deal: neither one of you will let the other one down. Satan will try to trick you or your friends just like he tricked Eve in the Garden of Eden. But don’t fall for Satan’s lies. And don’t let your friends fall for Satan’s lies either. Stick together with God. What a great alliance!

Hebrews 2:18

Hebrews 2:18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted. What a tender verse we have for today! Succour is a young mother lovingly nursing her newborn baby. And just as a mother nurses her little baby, Jesus also takes care of us His dear children. But why is Jesus Christ so sensitive towards us? Jesus is sensitive towards us because Jesus was one of us. He lived a life as a junior age boy and then later as a teenager just like us - except Jesus didn’t sin. Jesus knows what we are going through because He went through it too – except Jesus didn’t sin. So when we have problems in our lives, Jesus can help us because he knows exactly what is going on. Jesus loves us and Jesus cares for us. So pray to Him in faith and Jesus will hear!
