Ecclesiastes 9:17
The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth
among fools. Our verse tells us that there are two ways to go about things:
you can shout foolishness or you can whisper wisdom. Which will be heard?
Whether someone listens to what you say does not depend on how loudly you say
it; it depends whether what you say is reasonable to the person that you are
speaking to. If your words make sense, even though you are quiet in your
delivery, people will listen. If you are foolish in what you say, no one will
listen even if you shout it. So, is the key how loud you speak, or is the key
the content of what you say? So how do we speak wisdom? Good question. Psalm
111:10 The fear of the Lord is the
beginning of wisdom … speak the words of God – speak wisdom – and people
will listen.
