Mark 14:10,11 And
Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, to betray him
unto them. And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him
money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him. The chief
priests were looking for a way to get rid of Jesus. But they were afraid of the
people – they had to be careful. So they wanted the Roman soldiers to get
involved to do their dirty work. The chief priests wanted the people to blame
the Romans and not to blame them. Somehow, Judas knew what was going on and he
offered to betray Jesus. Back in those days, they had no pictures of Jesus and
the soldiers had never seen Jesus on TV, so they didn’t know exactly who Jesus
was. So Judas would identify Jesus to the soldiers. He was paid 30 pieces of
silver and promised to kiss Jesus on the cheek as the sign for the soldiers.
What a betrayal! What a crook! But Judas would soon regret his decision. But
after Jesus was arrested, it was too late for Judas to go back and undo his
crime. And that’s our take-away lesson. Some mistakes we can’t undo. Once a
mistake is made you can’t go back and change it. So, be careful and think
before you act.
