Mark 14:24 And he
said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.
The very night before Jesus was crucified, He had one final meal with His
disciples. Do you remember what it was named? It was the Passover meal, but for
us Christians it is known as the Last Supper. But towards the end, Jesus passed
around the bread and the wine (or grape juice) reminding the disciples that these
elements represented Jesus’ body and blood which would be broken and shed for
everyone’s redemption. And even today, we repeat this ceremony. It is called
communion or the Lord’s Supper. We celebrate the death of Jesus by drinking the
wine (or grape juice) and eating the bread. What a good way to remember Jesus’
death, and a good reminder that Jesus died for us.
