Mark 14:50 And they
all forsook him, and fled. Just a couple of hours after Jesus sat with His
disciples at the Last Supper, Jesus was arrested and hauled in to trial at the
chief priest’s palace. At just the time when Jesus needed support, all of the
disciples bailed out on Him. They deserted Him at His time of need. Jesus must
have felt lonely as He faced His enemies. After promising Jesus that they would
never desert Him, what did the disciples do? They deserted Jesus. But before we
blame them too much, What about us? Do we stick up for Jesus or do we desert
Him? When someone starts a dirty joke, do we stick up for Jesus? When someone
uses bad language, do we stick up for Jesus? When kids lay out of Master Club
or Youth Meetings, do we call them out for missing, or do we just desert Jesus?
Let’s make a commitment to be followers of Jesus whatever comes. Let’s make a
promise to stand up for Jesus!
