I Thessalonians 1:2
We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers.
When someone says your name out loud, what do they think? Are they happy to
remember your name, or does your name cause them bad thoughts? Here in our
verse, Paul had wonderful memories when he thought of the church at
Thessalonica. And when he thought of the church in Thessalonica, he was
reminded to pray for them. That was a good habit for Paul, and that’s a great
habit for us too. When someone from the past crosses your mind, just say a
little prayer for them. You don’t have to stop and kneel down and close your
eyes; just stop and say, “Lord, please bless so-and-so wherever they are
today.” That will take only three seconds and will release the power of the
Blessed Holy Spirit to work on their behalf. So, just like Paul prayed for the
church in Thessalonica, let’s pray for our friends.
