II Timothy 2:20 But
in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of
wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. Last Sunday,
we had a dinner at church. My wife cooked a roast with carrots and potatoes.
But she didn’t want to take her roast in the crock pot. That wasn’t fancy
enough. She had me to reach way up in the cabinet and get down her white
porcelain serving dish. She set the dish out at church and the roast looked
very attractive in it. But after the dinner was finished, we cleaned up. There
was some roast left, so my wife brought it home. At home, she got out a plastic
bowl and put the left-over roast in it. All three of those containers were
important. All three had specific uses. At the dinner at church, no one saw the
crock pot. But was the crock pot important? Of course it was. After the dinner
at church, no one saw the plastic bowl for the left-overs. But was it
important? Of course it was. Each container had its specific use and all three
were needed. And that’s what our verse is talking about. God has a use for you.
Are you the hard-working crockpot? Are you the fancy dish? Are you the useful
plastic bowl? Do what God has made you to do, and you will be happy. God needs
each one in His house. Let God use you.
