Some life events are planned, and some are not. We plan to graduate from high school and
college. We plan for a wedding. We plan to buy a new car. We plan to buy a new house. But then some events are not planned. When you visit a doctor, and he says, “Your
kidneys are failing, and you will have to go on dialysis in order to live.” When you get that phone call late at night
that your brother has been in a fatal car crash. So, for some events you are emotionally
prepared, but for others, you are not.
But the whole point is to prepare for those events that you aren’t
prepared for. Wait, what? We need to prepare for the unexpected. We need to be ready if WE are the one in that
fatal accident. We need to be prepared
for the doctor’s visit that turns into a hospitalization and heart surgery ON
US. Hey, let’s live like this life is
temporary. Because it is. But let’s live like we are going to live
forever. Because we will - in one place
or the other. Psalm 90:12, “So teach us
to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”
