Throughout the Old Testament, there are two portrayals of
the coming Messiah: In some passages He is a suffering Savior dying for the
sins of others, in other passages He is a vindicating King setting all wrongs
right. Jewish scholars even posit if
there are two Messiahs. Many Jewish
scholars interpret Isaiah 53 as referring to the Jewish nation. It doesn’t even fit, but their only
alternative is unthinkable: Jesus WAS
the Messiah. You see, Jesus came as a
lowly babe in the manger, lived a perfect life, and died as the perfect Lamb of
God suffering for the sins of the world.
And someday, He is coming back as the returning King of kings to
establish His earthly kingdom during the millennium. These amazing verses were written 700 years
BEFORE Jesus was born! Isaiah 53:4-6
“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem
him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our
transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our
peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have
gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on
him the iniquity of us all.” Jesus was
born to die! Have you trusted Him as
your Lord and Savior?
