My dear wife woke up Saturday morning with a blood glucose reading of 51. Yikes! That is dangerously low! But there was a silver lining to her problem. Let me explain. My daughter had come over with my eleven-year-old grandson and she had stopped by the grocery store and bought him some of those little powdered sugar doughnuts in a bag. Hey, don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about. You know, those little doughnuts that you should never eat?! Anyway, with my wife’s glucose so low, she had to get some sugar fast. So, for the first time in three years, she got to eat one of those powdered sugar doughnuts … and not feel guilty about it! James said in James1:17, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” Our loving heavenly Father gives us exactly what we need every day. And some days, He even gives us those little powdered sugar doughnuts to eat. The good Lord goes above and beyond and even gives us extra! Sort of like the icing on the cake. By the way, you shouldn’t eat that cake either ... unless your blood glucose is 51.
