Our pastor, Dr. Jamie Colbert, took on a project at our church: he painted the church nursery. Well, the new paint made the old carpet look bad, so he pulled up the old carpet and installed a new click vinyl floor. But that was easier said than done. The carpet was glued down with a good carpet glue that didn’t want to turn loose. Someday you will want to replace your carpet, so use the cheapest glue that you can find. The nursery carpet was only coming up inch by inch. Someone suggested a carpet glue removal liquid that Brother Jamie sprayed on the carpet. But it didn’t work. Now he had slippery, wet carpet that still wouldn’t come up. Brother Roth suggested that he rent a carpet scraper. Brother Jamie rented a carpet scraper at Home Depot, removed the carpet, carried it away to the dumpster, and had the machine back to the store by noon. The moral of the story: be careful who you get advice from. Hey, that’s the way it is in life. Don’t simply get advice from a friend; get advice from a friend who has gray hair. Get advice from someone who has had success in life. Get advice from a good man who knows the Bible and knows how to apply God’s Bible to your everyday life. Solomon said in Proverbs 4:7, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” God’s Word will never give you the wrong information. God Word will always be good advice.
