In 1968, my dorm in Bible college was Riley Hall. We had a new student who came from the Midwest. He was born again in the late summer of 1968 and showed up just a few weeks later at Bible College. He had a rough background and was virtually on his own. He came to Chattanooga on a Greyhound bus with two shirts and one pair of jeans to his name. We hit it off and became good friends. His testimony was glowing: saved from alcohol and drugs becoming a changed person in Jesus Christ. One day I shared with him that I was jealous of his wonderful conversion story. He was stunned. He said, “Well, I am jealous of your testimony: saved as a six-year-old boy growing up in a Christian home.” Hey, often we see someone else and wish that we were them. But all the while, they are wishing they were us! We must realize that the dear Lord has called each of us and prepared us for what He has in store. Paul said in I Corinthians 7:20, “Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.” You are just the exact person that God wants you to be. Let the dear Lord take you as you are and use you for his purposes. Don’t live with regrets and don’t live with wishes. Live the life that God has planned for you to live. Remember that you are God’s special creation. Live like you are!
