I was amazed at the quality of care that my dear wife got at Memorial Hospital. Even from the dietician delivering meals. He stopped to ask if he could mention my wife’s name in prayer at his church that evening! Kathy and I needed help cleaning up a mess and the CNA’s stepped right in. The girl said, “This is my calling.” Really?! Cleaning up a mess?! But she wasn’t cleaning up a mess; she was cleaning up a person who deserved dignity. My wife is retired and can do nothing to contribute to the economy. Some would say that she is taking up all of the Medicare resources. But the staff at Memorial see it differently. Kathy has paid into the system for years. Kathy has been a teacher and contributed to train the next generation. And she was treated with the dignity that she deserves by good people who realized it. My wife still has much to contribute to her children, grandchildren, and her Sunday school class. She is not a burden; she is an asset with a wealth of knowledge and experience in this world. She is worth taking care of! Titus 2:3-5, “The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, … teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home …” Hey, do you have a Godly mentor? If not, today would be a good day to seek one out. Don’t throw the old folk away; use them; they are a wealth of knowledge. Hey, it was an old person who wrote this story that you are reading! ;<)
