y twelve-year-old grandson has hundreds (if not thousands) of Hot Wheel cars. Periodically, his mother makes him get rid of a few to make room for newer ones. At least, that’s what she tells him the reason is. So, Bennett collected almost a hundred cars and puzzled where to donate them. His second cousin, my nephew Adam, is a teacher at an inner-city school, so the cars will go to second-grade boys. Adam will use the cars to motivate his second-grade boys to do their classwork thisfall and earn a Hot Wheel car. A good lesson for Bennett and a great motivation for the second-grade boys. That’s what you call a “win-win” situation. Solomon knew the value of a gift. He said in Proverbs 17:8, “A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.” Bennett’s donated cars may encourage a little boy to learn to read.
