Lessons from a Waffle Iron

Last week in Pennsylvania, we stayed at Homewood Suites in Lancaster (thanks, Alex, for the Hilton points).  They had a full breakfast, and I learned three spiritual truths at the waffle iron.  1. Patience.  It took two minutes thirty seconds to make a waffle.  No more; no less.  A kid tried to make a waffle ahead of me, but he couldn’t wait for the waffle iron to finish.  He opened it up early just to check on his waffle, which ruined it.  Half was stuck on the top of the iron and half was stuck on the bottom.  He worked and worked to remove the bottom side as the top side burned.  2. Follow directions.  There was a “fill line” on the paper cup for the batter and there was “conditioning spray” that had directions on the back.  One pump of spray each time on each side of the waffle iron.  3. Watch the time.  Pour the batter in and turn the waffle iron over and watch the automatic timer count down two minutes and thirty seconds.  And … a perfect waffle every time!  Hey, follow the good Lord’s directions (in the Bible) and you will make it safely to heaven.  Life may not always be smooth, but it will be the best life possible!  Proverbs 3:5&6, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
