Finally Right.

A two-year construction project has begun halfway between our house and church.  The problem is, we can’t tell if the freeway is backed up until we get on, and then it’s too late.  So, my wife and I have been conflicted (arguing) about the shortest route to church.  Not a good thing to be arguing about.  Finally, this afternoon, I pulled out my cell phone, clicked on the little microphone, and dictated, “Google, which is the fastest way to Calvary Independent Baptist Church?”  In ten seconds, the shortest route popped up, and I was right.  Hey, don’t judge me!  After all, it is Father’s Day.

2:81 AM

My dear wife and I have different ideas of what a “good night’s sleep” is.  She likes to go to sleep, sleep all the night through, and wake up in the morning.  But I like to go to sleep, wake up in two hours, look at the clock, and say to myself, “It’s only 12:30 AM. I have six more hours to sleep.”  And then I wake up at 2:30 AM, look at the clock, and say to myself, “It’s only 2:30 AM.  I have four more hours to sleep.”  And so forth and so on.  But this morning, I woke up, looked at the clock, and saw that it was 2:81 AM.  I was startled.  I had never been awake at 2:81 AM before.  So, I got up, turned on the lamp, found my glasses, and looked at the clock once again.  But with my glasses on, it was 2:31 AM.  But now I was wide awake and couldn’t go back to sleep, whether it was 2:81 AM or 2:31 AM.  Oh well …

The New Birth

“… They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Mark 2:17  Jesus didn’t come to earth for good people; Jesus came for sinners who needed salvation.  Jesus doesn’t want us to come to church to be better men; He wants us to come to church just as we are, and He will change us and make our lives brand new.  As a matter of fact, Jesus told Nicodemus in John chapter 3 that it was just like being born again.  We are born the first time into our earthly family and then we must be born again into God’s forever spiritual family.  Hey, how about you?  Have you been born into God’s forever family?
